Our Story
Our Story — Mohammed's Tikka & Kebaab, Cape Town
Halaal takeaway in Lansdowne, Cape Town, since 1999.
The story so far
Mohammed and his wife opened their doors in Lansdowne in 1999, having come to Cape Town from Bangladesh with a love of proper, flame-grilled cooking and a plan to do things the same way every single day. More than 25 years later, that plan hasn't changed: one shop, one family, no shortcuts.
Today it's Mohammed and his brother running the kitchen, still turning out the same flame-grilled tikka chicken, kebabs and roti & curry that first put them on the map. They may well have been among the very first tikka takeaways in Lansdowne — and over the years, the shop has become something of an institution in the community, with generations of regulars coming back for the same fresh, strictly Halaal food.
We've never opened a second branch. Lansdowne is home, and Lansdowne is where you'll always find us — 633 Lansdowne Road, opposite York Road.
